I used Join Geometry between framing roofs to clean up the joints that are visible at first. I used Attach to project the wall up to the roof elements.
A gable ladder usually starts inside the building roof framing and cantilevers beyond so I started it inside too, extends inside of the gable wall. In the color image I've used one 12" thick roof for the rafters over the building, a 8" roof the the eave, another 8" roof for the gable ladder and finally a shingle roof on top of all of them. I used Join Geometry between the main and ladder gable roofs to eliminate the "joint" line between them. Also modeling a structure and sheathing only roof(s) will give you more accurate representation and then cover it with a finish only roof element that is raised up so it sits on the structural portion. If you want a thinner roof at the gable where it would be framed differently then a separate roof from the exterior edge of the building out would help get there.
